Francesca Pickup
Physiotherapist
Francesca graduated from Manchester Metropolitan University with a Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy. Since graduating, Francesca has worked in a range of settings. These varied from inpatient orthopaedics, intermediate care, respiratory and intensive care. Drawing from these experiences, Francesca enjoys working with a variety of clients and ages. After working in Musculoskeletal therapies, Francesca realised that this is where her passion lay.
Francesca secured a senior role in Musculoskeletal Therapies, where she worked as the shockwave therapy lead. She also had the opportunity to work in hydrotherapy, and under the lower limb specialist physiotherapist. Here she had the opportunity to attend the hip and knee surgical conference, organised by leading medical device company Stryker. Here she networked with the top lower-limb orthopaedic surgeons in the North-West of England. Since attending this conference, Francesca was able to put this learning into practice, leading post-operative rehabilitation classes and helping patients to get back to feeling strong and mobile.
After reaping the benefits of Pilates through self-practice over 5 years, Francesca completed her Pilates training with Future Fit UK. This included pre and post-natal Pilates. Francesca has a strong interest in Women’s Health Physiotherapy, and will be seeking learning opportunities in this area in the near future. She loves to incorporate Pilates exercises into rehabilitation, as past experiences have shown excellent outcomes.
Francesca believes in using a multi-faceted approach to rehabilitation, and is passionate about prevention of future injuries and promoting a healthy lifestyle. She enjoys taking the time to listen to her patients in order to create shared decisions on treatment programmes, and is passionate about helping everyone to feel their best.
Outside of work, Francesca loves to run, attend Pilates classes and spend time with friends.
